Vendors sought for Día de los Muertos in Chelan

Posted

CHELAN – Event organizers for the 2024 Día de los Muertos celebration are looking for vendors to participate in this year’s festivities on Sunday, November 3, from 12-4 p.m. at Riverwalk Park in Chelan.

The event is organized by ¡Hola! Chelan, Marcela’s Cocina Mexicana, and Historic Downtown Chelan. Ruby Garcia with the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce and on the ¡Hola! Chelan Committee is the contact person for vendors.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an essential cultural event that brings significant value to a small town like Lake Chelan and to the whole Lake Chelan Valley as well, Garcia said.

The celebration, which honors loved ones who have passed away, will include a parade, face painting, carnival games, and more.

“One of the highlights of this celebration is the community parade, which attracts families from all over the region,” Garcia said. “This colorful and lively procession features traditional music, elaborate costumes, and beautifully decorated altars, creating a festive atmosphere that appeals to both locals and tourists.”

The committee is seeking a variety of vendors, including craft vendors, food vendors, and nonprofits interested in community outreach within the Lake Chelan area.

“Vendors should join our Día de los Muertos event for great exposure to a diverse audience and the chance to connect with new customers,” she said. “Your participation enhances the cultural essence of the celebration, contributing to an authentic and vibrant atmosphere.”

Día will be held at the Chelan Riverwalk Park at 117 E. Wapato Ave. Interested vendors may contact Garcia at ruby@lakechelan.com.
